Description

Jasmine Duet is a combination of two species of magnificent climbing vines: Gelsemium rankinii and Gelsemium sempervirens, both of which are jasmines, also called Jessamine. Jasmine Duet features an abundant and spectacular display of fragrant, funnel-shaped, bright yellow flowers against dark green foliage in late winter into spring and then reblooms in fall. The vine is evergreen in USDA Zone 8a but may be semi-evergreen to deciduous in zones further north. Excellent for growing on a trellis, arbors, fences and walls and can also be used in mass plantings as an attractive groundcover.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12 feet or more in height or length and 2 to 4 feet wide, Jasmine Duet is ideal for use to climb up and along the tops of fences or over arches and arbors and any other structure that provides support such as a trellis, post or mailbox. It can also be useful as a ground cover for slopes or banks or to climb into smaller trees where early flowering is especially noticeable.

Suggested Spacing: 3 to 6 feet apart to cover fences

Growing Preferences

Jasmine Duet is very easy to grow. It tolerates a wide range of soils, even somewhat boggy soils, however is also quite drought tolerant when established. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. We have it growing in sunny and partially shaded sites and it does equally as well in both exposures. Can be pruned as desired for shaping or to control size.

First of all it was shocking to me to see such a big plant arrive in a big box. I expect to find very small plants from an online nursery but doesn’t ever seem to be the case with Wilson Bros. It was starting to show signs of the fall season, but the plant arrived in excellent shape, and will have to wait until springtime to see it full bloom, which i am sure will happen considering how big and happy the plant was when it was received.—————————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! I ordered the two-gallon size of the duet jessamine. As normal for Wilson Brothers, the plants arrived healthy. These particular plants were MUCH LARGER than expected. Really happy with the plants, but am still waiting on the arbor to be installed that will support them. This should happen in early August. I guess that’ll be the big test to see if they survive an August planting. This plant, even though it was only 2 gallons, was taller and fuller than I thought it would be. It looked very healthy and is growing well. Even though we have several nurseries close to where we live, metro Atlanta, Wilson Bros have a much better selection. with plants I have not seen anywhere else. I have been ordering plants online for years due to the remote locations of our 2 ranches & our home so when I get to the location the plants would be deliver within a day. The time it takes to drive a couple hours plus hook up the trailer, load, unload, etc it’s my time vs what I can get ordered online in the evenings with a quality nursery.
